We have been in this house for a solid year now, and I have figured out about 85% of the light switches. I’ll admit that does not include the quad plate in the kitchen which I probably use more than any other switch plate. I think this one is the middle set of pot lights…. Surprise! It’s the pendants.
That also means an entire year has gone by from the time that Flufferella and I slapped up some paint swatches on the walls of her room and this moment when her room is officially decorated.
I hope you have your insulin ready because this is one candy coated dream of a Victorian ice-cream parlor inspired room.
The cherry blossom ceiling fan makes so much more sense with the wallpaper, paint, and trim up.
Even the chandelier looks better.
I can’t say I love the canopy, but Fluffy is far from willing to part with it, so it stays.
You know how I feel about covered storage, so the room has a storage bench at the foot of the bed, plus a bookcase with solid doors at the bedside.
And a giant armoire in addition to the walk-in closet.
Even that table I refinished has storage for the castle components.
The DIY Victorian silhouettes of the kids turned out well,
as did the branch with hanging birdcages.
The couch turned the “sitting area” into a sitting area at long last.
Fluff’s asked that we keep her desk pretty empty so she has room to write on it. Sensible girl.
So there it is. The trim work was the hardest part, but looking at the finished product, I think was essential. The wallpaper pasting was actually one of the easiest projects. Simpler and faster than the paint stripes, by the way. The other bear in the room as far as time and effort was refinishing the little table.
Can you tell it was somewhat inspired by the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main St. in the Magic Kingdom?

And if you still haven’t gotten enough of the room or the Fluffy, here are her thoughts on her new room.
