Tada! The right accent tile arrived for the masterbath. Polished and frosted white glass tile with white stone.
Looks like they cut the mesh-backed mosaic into the appropriate size strips and then buttered the back with thin set to stiffen it before installing. Never seen that before.
A vast improvement over this.
Jenn’s comment on the last tile post reflects my thoughts when I was contracting the work on my town house. Just do it right. I told you what to do, just do it. And yet, many of these crews are working multiple jobs and maybe your customized ideas are competing in their minds with standard practices. And maybe there’s just so much going on, they can’t possibly get it all right.
My builder who went all the way to Turkey to get a better view of my blog was for some reason shy about replying directly to Jenn’s comment, but sent me this response.
Regarding the tile mix-up:
“We customize so often we have a two part trim install since we know things will be missed. Seems avoidable but you’d be surprised at how complicated it is just to be set up to offer customizations let alone to actually customize.”
