I thought you might like to see what I’ve been spending so much time watering this summer. So here is the BEFORE from a year ago when we moved into the house:
And here it is TODAY. Literally, just took this:
Can you spot differences? For one, we got new garage doors.
I was hesitant to spend $2500 on new garage doors since the original ones were new and functional and only committed the sin of being plain and boring. But I think they make a big impact so I’m glad I went ahead and replaced them.
Did I fool you? I didn’t replace them at all. I removed the original hardware, patched the holes with some incredibly noisome and toxic Bondo, painted it, and then installed all these hinges and the window panels. Total cost: $250.
The other big change is the foundation beds have been expanded and planted! (And watered, and watered, and watered, and watered, and watered, and….)
I’ve got my beloved spherical boxwoods, roses (which were much prettier the week before I took this), azaleas, DunRee boxwoods, mums, geraniums, petunias, lorepetalum, coral bells, and a pink dogwood.
Oh, and don’t forget when I put on the door knocker!
I keep typing and then backspacing lists of things I still want to do to make it better when I get the money, but I think that will ruin your experience of it and my own. I’ll let the current version stand on its own.
I just realized I put the wrong before picture up. Here is the real BEFORE:
and then AFTER:
