One thing I love about this age is that Fluffernutter has made me a valentine almost every day in February.
Fluffy: Look what I made you!
Me: Oh, this is beautiful. “I love you, Mommy and Daddy. Happy Valentine’s Day.” That’s awesome.
Fluffy: See this is you. You’re in a red dress, and you’re singing opera because that’s what you do all the time.
Me: I love it. And this is Daddy? What’s he doing?
Fluffy: He’s on the toilet.
In the car listening to an NPR story about the controversy over transgender people in competitive sports.
Me: (To no one in particular) Are you a transvestite?
Salty: No, but I have friends who are.
Me: WHAT?!! Hahahaha!
I assumed he picked up this phrase from a show or a movie. Kent and I tried to figure it out. Finally it hit me. In the movie Frozen, Anna says, “What are you, some kind of love expert?” and Kristoff replies, “No, but I have friends who are.” Boom.
As I shovel out our drive, walkway, and cars while Kent plays in the snow with the boys.
Me: We really need two shovels, if you know what I mean.
Kent: Are you sure you can handle both at the same time?
