Salty really loves to watch and listen to me singing. Sometimes I practice while feeding the boys their solids. Sometimes I practice while they’re in their jumperoos. Salty loves him some operatic singing. He stares at me with this face and will sometimes whine to be picked up so he can watch me sing at super close range. I worry about blasting his ears out since I’ve definitely had accompanists say their hearing has suffered from sopranos belting near their heads. I think this kid is a music lover for sure.
Fluffy is also into classical music. Her favorite piece is The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughn Williams. The other night we heard her squealing in her room so Kent went to check why she wasn’t asleep. She had turned on Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini and was singing along. “Na na na na na na” she sang to Kent, “Do you know that part? That’s the part when the music sounds like it’s getting little bit fwustrated and then that’s the part right before the part that is my favorite part. ‘Na na na na na.'”
Coincidentally, Fluffy is beside me right now drawing a picture of me in “a beautiful sash dress singing at the opera.”
