Okay, I know it sounds so super nerdy, and this picture does not help, but you’re going to have to trust me that this was completely awesome. Kent wanted to try one of these escape rooms. I had seen one on The Bachelor, and it looked gory and stupid, but the one we did for Kent’s birthday was neither.
So you get locked in a room with 5-8 people and you have 60 minutes to complete a mission and find the exit key. The mission and the key finding involve a collection of puzzles that all have to be solved and pieced together to reach the final objective. We did a level 8 advanced room even though it was everyone’s first time, and it was difficult. Less than 40% solve the room even with hints. We solved it in 56 minutes with 3 hints. Of course, we all feel if the person who gave us the orientation had not insisted that the puzzles/clues went in order (some clues had to be combined later down the line), we would not have had to request any hints.
The whole thing was very clever and intellectually stimulating. The room was elaborate and very well designed. The props and effects were great. And it was such a huge thrill to finish the room!
I will definitely be doing this again. I absolutely loved it. Our room was The Order of the Alchemists.
Kent described it as: challenging, intellectually stimulating, and fun.
We also had dinner at Town Hall Restaurant chosen strictly for its proximity to the Escape Room location. Service was great, but food was meh. And then we did a 3 restaurant dessert crawl for the birthday boy. Coco Sala wins by a clear mile!
