Take a good look and tell me what’s different about this picture.
Yes, I took down the red ribbon, but what else? This one make it any clearer?
That’s right! Drawer pulls. And it only took me like 5 months.
This weekend was a blitzkrieg of Christmas-domestic activity for me. Not only did I take the boys their first professional haircuts (so much better than my hack jobs) and hose down and scrub up the troops, I also decorated the whole house!
This involved bouncing around to many stores as well as ordering things online. I had to get a lot more decorations for the lot more house I have this year. We even retired the old Christmas tree which the mice clearly had been in and bought this FABULOUS 9′ Fraser Fir tree. We cheaped out and bought the white light only version instead of the dual function multi and white. If I really want it multi colored some day, I’ll throw some strands on there for a lot less than $700 extra dollars. Three people have already asked me if it’s real.
Mission accomplished. I’ll do a full shopping guide tomorrow. This is just a teaser.
Then I got out my power tools and drilled into my drawers! Unlike with the door pulls, I had to make my own template for these longer pulls I got from Bellacor.
Then I put on my apron (metaphorically. I never think to actually put it on.) and baked chewy gingerbread chocolate chip cookies for my family. These bad boys are the cover shot and the best find in the Martha Stewart Cookie Cookbook. They have a lot less molasses than other gingerbread cookies because molasses is gross. And they have chocolate chips and cocoa in the dough because chocolate is forever. Don’t skip the fresh ginger, and if you are like me, add some extra nutmeg and cloves. Otherwise the other spices get lost in said fresh ginger.
If Nikki were here, she and Kent would have eaten all the dough faster than I could make it into little sugar coated discs.
Oh! And I also put on my red ballgown and sang a Messiah concert. Got to sing “But Who May Abide the Day of His Coming” for the first time ever. I think the singing went really well–huge delighted gasp from the whole room on the final D3 of “refiner’s fire”–but physically I was sick and burning with fever. The conductor asked why I was so flushed. Consumptive face to match my scarlet dress.
Stay tuned for complete buying guide on how I spent a pile of money on Christmas decorations this year.
Don’t worry, Kent got a promotion, woohoo! And I may have a cool $25 left over from the pay increase after this weekend.
Which reminds me, today is Kent’s first day at his new job. HAPPY FIRST DAY!!
