After all those pictures of the kids in their costumes, I forgot to say something about actual Halloween. We took everyone to the ward Trunk-or-Treat which was an unmitigated disaster. The boys were up past their bedtime with quivering chins for about 10 minutes before full-on Chernobyl ensued.
They did infinitely better for regular Trick-or-Treating on Halloween at our complex. The Lunsfords joined us for dinner and beggary.
Orange and Black Halloween Dinner Menu
Orange and black tortilla chips with salsa con queso and mango salsa
Black squid ink pasta with meatballs in orange vodka sauce (this shall become a tradition!)
Black forbidden rice with orange bell peppers
When the children returned with their spoils, we put on glow in the dark skeleton jammies, broke out about 150 glow in the dark bracelets and had a sugar-shock rave in the basement. This was one of my favorite Halloweens to date. And that squid ink pasta with butternut squash was legitimately good food!
